Common questions
- How is a home loan EMI worked out?
- The EMI is the fixed monthly payment that repays the loan and its interest over the tenure. It uses the loan amount, the yearly interest rate divided by twelve, and the number of months. This calculator applies that standard formula and nothing else.
- Which interest rate should I enter?
- Enter the rate your lender quotes you. We do not publish or predict bank rates, and the default shown here is only an example. Floating rates can change during the loan, which changes the EMI or the tenure.
- Does this tell me if I am eligible for a loan?
- No. Eligibility depends on the lender and on details this page never asks for. The Check my eligibility button only opens a form so an advisor can call you to discuss options. It is not an approval or an offer.
- Does the EMI include processing fees, insurance or taxes?
- No. The figures cover principal and interest only. Processing fees, insurance and other charges are set by the lender, so ask for the full cost in writing.
- What does an extra monthly payment do?
- If your lender allows part payments without a charge, paying more each month clears the balance sooner and cuts the total interest. The calculator shows the effect of a fixed extra amount. Check your loan terms first, because some loans charge for prepayment.
